COMPOSITE THRESHOLD PLATE – Other information Profiles in other widths and flange dimensions can be produced, and existing profiles can be individually adapted – this must be agreed from case to case. The 15 mm and 20 mm heights cannot be changed. If the individual profile is not in stock, a delivery time of 8 weeks must be expected. Tests on the threshold plate for driving rain in accordance with DS/EN 1027 are available. Threshold plate support is recommended at intervals of max. 200 mm; however, this is always the customer’s responsibility – see illustrated recommendations. Can composite threshold plate be painted? YES, no problem, in principle profiles can be painted in all RAL colours. In industrial use, a 2-component PU paint will typically be used, and on building sites an acrylic or similar paint (1-component). 2-component PU paints are more wear-resistant. Prices depend on quantity and paint type, and must be determined from case to case. Can composite threshold plates be glued to different surfaces? (Wood, steel, aluminium, plastic) YES, no problem, but a distinction must be made between industrial and trade execution. The best idea is to consult the adhesives supplier currently used by the company. The following adhesive types are met with: The following adhesive types are both 1 and 2-component, and can be divided into three groups: 1.Soft adhesive types (typically silicone, used for materials with different expansion coefficients, high sunlight (UV) exposure, wide temperature differences, large/thick adhesive joints, etc.) 2.Medium-hard adhesive types (typically based on acrylics (and PUR), used where materials have more or less identical expansion coefficients, partial sunlight (UV) exposure, can be painted over, good load transmission without significant „twist”, adhesive joints approx. 0.2 and 0.6 mm) 3.Hard adhesive types (typically based on epoxy, used where materials have identical expansion coefficients, no sunlight (UV) exposure, extreme load transmission without „twist”, adhesive joints approx. 0.1 and 0.5mm) The physical setting is thus important, and the adhesive used will depend on the location and opportunities for gluing the materials together.
